Description
Connected Culture and Natural Heritage in a Northern Environment (CINE) was a collaborative digital heritage project funded by the Northern Periphery and Artic Programme between 9 partners and 10 associated partners between 2017-2020. CINE transformed people’s experiences with outdoor heritage sites through “museum without walls” technology, allowing the visualisation of effects the changing environment has on heritage sites, which helps to imagines possible futures.

Description
The Museums and Community: Concepts, Experiences and Sustainability in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean (EU-LAC MUSEUMS) project was an EU Horizon 2020 funded heritage project created under the auspices of ICOM. The aim of the project was to better understand the cultural, scientific and social relationships between the EU and LAC regions and ran from 2016 to 2021. In its final year it won the Europa Nostra Ilucidare Special Prize for Heritage-led International Relations.

The ongoing NPA-funded STRATUS project is driven by collaborative partners in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Iceland and Scotland. STRATUS view is connecting emergent digital technologies and changing digital literacies is a key to re-energising communities with exploration of their past. By using disruptive VR technologies to explore the past, present and possible futures, STARTUS hopes to maximise potential benefits for unique natural and cultural heritage.

Accelerated by COVID 19 impact we have seen digital representations of heritage become increasingly important both for its preservation and promotion. As commodity computers and phones have become both more accessible and more powerful, the digital literacies that accompany them have become ubiquitous.
